h is for hamburger cookies

grandma said when my mom and uncles were little kids they liked to make hamburger cookies and at first Sian and I were kind of scared.  we thought there was really hamburger in the cookies...
and then grandma brought out all of the ingredients...

for the buns, you use vanilla wafers...
for the hamburger, you use york peppermint patties
for the lettuce, you use green coconut
for the mustard, you use yellow frosting
for the ketchup, you also use red frosting...

Sian and I had lots of fun doing them but best of all was eating them...your kids would love these...

g is for George Washington's cupcakes

my grandma told me that when my mom and uncles were little they made these cupcakes every year on George Washington's birthday cause they have cherry in them...

we made them late this year cause grandma had a hard time finding the cherry extract...

this is a recipe that my grandma found a long time ago in an old magazine...

they are very good...

for the recipe you are supposed to use a cherry cake mix but they do not have them anymore so grandma used the next best thing...

here is the recipe:

1 pkg of vanilla cake mix
1 pkg of vanilla instant pudding
1 1/4 cup of buttermilk
4 eggs
1/2 cup of oil
1 cup of coconut
1 cup of pecans
2 tbs of cherry extract (grandma found this on Amazon)

mix together and bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes...
these cupcakes are very moist and do not need frosting, I sprinkled some powdered sugar on top...
